About Leadership Monongalia

Objectives

To bring together emerging leaders representing diverse groups, interests and backgrounds.

To provide a firm foundation of leadership development in Monongalia County.

To provide insight into the issues facing Monongalia County.

To create heightened awareness and understanding in finding solutions for the enhancement of Monongalia County's growth and prosperity.
 

Mission and Purpose

"Leadership Monongalia's purpose is to identify, develop and sustain community leaders. The program aims to develop and enhance personal leadership skills, provide knowledge enrichment of Monongalia County and to develop and cultivate leadership involvement throughout Monongalia County."

The cultivation of new leadership is of utmost importance to West Virginia's future prosperity and progress. Leadership Monongalia seeks to develop and motivate a cross-section of leaders who will use their talents and abilities to inspire others and to foster a new spirit of energy, enthusiasm and vitality throughout the county.

The Program

The program spans eight months and includes seven leadership sessions from September through April, excluding December. Leadership sessions typically include a full day commitment on Friday and a half da commitment on Saturday. The seven educational sessions of Leadership Monongalia will all be conducted locally in Monongalia County.

At each of the leadership sessions recognized authorities, practitioners, teachers, professionals and analysts will provide information and insight into a program topic: Orientation, Economic Development, Education, Social Services, Arts and Culture, Health Care, and Government.

A variety of views will be presented on each topic, and visits will be made to local sites which will reinforce, through observation and practical experience the particular subject of the leadership session.
